I have always loved reptiles, mostly snakes. My parents were afraid of snakes and I was never allowed to have one as a kid. That never stopped me from finding them in the wild.
I also chose not to keep any while I was on active duty in the U.S. Army. My last duty assignment was teaching Army ROTC at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott,
Arizona. I decided to stay in Arizona when I left active duty in 1992. Although I live in Arizona now, since 1992...I used to live in Kansas for 12 years, from 1974-1986. And recently
I have been making a few trips back.
